Dr. Aditya V Agarwal, D.Phil (Honoris Causa) is a second-generation entrepreneur and Non-Executive Director of Emami Ltd. He is a man who always sees life in a positive light and believes in confronting challenges head-on. Being one of the eldest scions of the Emami family, Aditya has witnessed Emami’s growth from its humble beginning to it being one of the leading FMCG companies in India today. Possessing an indomitable drive and passion as imbibed from the Founders of the Company, Aditya has the innate ability to grow a company from scratch to a business of profits. At a young age he has made an indelible imprint in running a corporate conglomerate and can be a fountain of inspiration to any aspiring businessman. Being extremely versatile and an expert at PR and man management, Aditya heads the edible oil and biodiesel, along with newsprint & paperboard manufacturing businesses of the Group.

In recognition of Aditya’s contribution towards business and community, Amity University, Kolkata, West Bengal conferred him with the Degree of Honoray Doctorate D.Phil (Honoris Causa) in the year 2024.

Aditya has served as the youngest President of the Merchants Chamber of Commerce and spearheaded Indian Chamber of Commerce in 2016-17 as its President.

Manish Goenka

Vice Chairman

Shri Manish Goenka is one of the Second Generation Promoter Directors of the diversified business of
Emami Group of Companies. He is one of the key members of the strategic think-tank committee of
the Group and is on the Board of Emami Paper Mills Limited as its Whole-time Director. He has
completed his Master of Business Administration from the Cardiff University, UK.
With his sharp business acumen and vision as well as the vast experience gained from the Group’s
FMCG business, he has spearheaded the edible oil arm of the Group for it to become one of the frontrunning edible oil companies in India within just 5 years of its inception. As a Director, he plays a key
role in setting new benchmarks within the Group, which include quality standards, benchmarking
services, ensuring customer satisfaction by employing top-of-the-line technology and its application.
As a Whole-time Director in Emami Paper Mills Limited, he has made significant contribution for the
specific functions such as Marketing & strategy Formulation, Corporate Planning, system development
under SAP. With his rich and varied experience backed by family background, he has contributed
significantly to consolidating the paper business during the critical integration phase before and after
merger of two units and commissioning of Paper Machine No. III and IV for Multi-Layer Coated Board
Paper project including captive power plant at Balasore, Odisha.
Shri Manish Goenka is the Past President of Merchant Chamber of Commerce and has been an active
member of the Bio-Diesel Committee of CII. He takes active interest in the different charitable
activities of the “Emami Foundation” and strongly believes in Corporate Social Responsibilities.
In 2018, Shri Goenka was felicitated as ‘Times Visionary Leaders’ by Times Men of the Year for his
exemplary performance and contribution to the industry.

Richa Agarwal

Non-Executive Director

Richa Agarwal, Non-executive Director of our Company is a distinguished patron and art connoisseur
dedicated to preserving Bengal’s artistic and cultural heritage while embracing its contemporary
evolution. Inspired by the legacy of her father-in-law, Shri R.S. Agarwal, and his business partner,
Shri R.S. Goenka, she has seamlessly transitioned from her background in commerce and
entrepreneurship to the realm of arts management. With strong business acumen and hands-on
experience within her family enterprises, she brings a distinctive perspective to her leadership in the
arts.
As a Director in Emami Paper Mills Limited, she oversees Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR)
Initiatives of the Company with her extensive expertise in the areas of social welfare, Women
Empowerment etc.
Her contributions to art and culture have earned her numerous accolades, including the FEMINA
Achievers’ 2024 East Award for Excellence in the Promotion of the Arts, the New Indian Express Group
DEVI Award in 2022, and the Times Power Women Award in 2018. Her vision for the Kolkata Centre
for Creativity (KCC) and Emami Art focuses on fostering a deeper appreciation for art, crafts, and
cultural practices. She has spearheaded initiatives that span multiple disciplines and approaches, from
contemporary and cutting-edge art practices to inclusive programmes such as “Art for All” and DEAI
(Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion) initiatives like a Braille library.
She has also prioritised documenting and archiving lesser-known artists, organising annual art and
craft festivals that engage the entire city, and hosting ground-breaking symposiums. Under her
visionary leadership, KCC offers a diverse and nuanced programme that caters to a wide audience,
making art and culture more approachable. As a result, the Kolkata Centre for Creativity has become
synonymous with exceptional yet accessible art and cultural practices in the city.
She doesn’t hold Directorships in any other Body Corporate except Emami Paper Mills Limited.

Amit Kiran Deb

Independent Director

Shri Amit Kiran Deb, an Independent Director of our Company, is a retired officer of Indian
Administrative Service and was assigned West Bengal Cadre. He has completed his Bachelor of Arts.
in Political Science from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack and also holds a Master’s Degree in Political
Science from Allahabad University.
Shri Deb had joined Indian Administrative Service in 1971. After serving as Sub Divisional Officer in
two Sub Divisions (Tamluk & Diamond Harbour) and then as Additional District Magistrate in Malda,
he joined Government of India in the Department of Supply & Rehabilitation as Under Secretary,
Integrated Finance and served in this capacity from 1977 to 1980.
He has served as District Magistrate of Darjeeling and Midnapore districts, Commissioner-cumSecretary at Education and Social Welfare Departments of Government of Tripura, Joint Secretary and
Cabinet Secretariat at Department of Electronics of Government of India, Municipal Commissioner at
Calcutta Municipal Corporation, Special Secretary at Power Department, Secretary at Tourism
Department, Principal Secretary at Information and Cultural Affairs Department and Principal
Secretary to Chief Minister, West Bengal.
He has also served as an Additional Chief Secretary, Home & Home Secretary of Government of West
Bengal. Prior to his retirement, he served as Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal.

Sumit Banerjee

Independent Director

Sumit Banerjee, is an Independent Director of our Company and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in
Technology (Mechanical Engineering) from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He has also
completed the ‘Leading Change and Organizational Renewal’ programme from Harvard Business
School and the management education programme from the Indian Institute of Management,
Ahmedabad.
He was elected as a fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India). He was previously associated with
the Confederation of Indian Industry (Cement Division) as the convening Chairperson at its first
meeting, the Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry as the chief mentor- centre for mediation
and conciliation, the National Skill Development Corporation as Nominee Director for the Construction
Skill Development Council and a member of the Board of Governors of Indian Institute of
Management, Lucknow.
He has also served with ACC Limited as a Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Reliance
Cement Private Limited, Larsen and Toubro and Hindalco Industries Limited as the president – foil and
packaging business. He received the Corporate Citizen of the Year award at the CNBC-TV18 Indian
Business Leader Awards, 2009. He has over 35 years of experience in management and leadership
roles.

Mamta Binani

Independent Director

Dr. (h.c.) Adv. Mamta Binani an Independent Director of the Company and was the National Past
President of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) for the year 2016 and she relinquished
the office of President on 19th January, 2017. She was the second lady President of ICSI in the
illustrious history of the Institute of more than 50 years.
She was practicing as a Company Secretary for over 21 years and was a senior partner of Mamta Binani
& Associates, having offices at Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and Guwahati. She is now practicing
as an Advocate and is also a consultant on restructuring, corporate and legal matters. She is a
registered Insolvency Professional. She is the first insolvency professional in the country, to be
registered with the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Board of India.
She is the Vice President of the Kolkata National Company Law Tribunal Bar Association and is the
Chairperson of the Merchant Chamber of Commerce-Legal Affairs Council which also oversees
Corporate Law and Governance and is the Co-Chairperson of the Stressed Resolution Committee of
the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She is the Immediate Past President of Calcutta
Citizen’s Initiative, an NGO, working very closely on issues concerning the citizenry on environment,
nature and mankind issues. She is an executive committee member of INSOL India. She is a Board
Member of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) and is the
Co-Chair for the India Network.
She has been bestowed with various medals, certificates and awards including the prestigious D.L.
Mazumdar’s Silver Medal and Mauji Ram Memorial Award and Tejaswini Award (2010), the “Bharat
Nirman Awards” in the year 2010 for “Excellence in Professional Services” (the first Company Secretary
to have received this prestigious award), the KKMERS award for excellence in profession and also the
‘Hello Kolkata’ award for exemplary work in social sector. She has been chosen as ‘The Most Admired
Global Indian 2020’ and her story has been featured in the anniversary edition of ‘Passion Vista’, a
business magazine and she has been conferred with the Insolvency Law Award Winner (India) for 2020
by the International Advisory Experts and Asian African Leadership Awards in Legal & Professional
Services.
She is the first Indian to have been endowed with the prestigious award of ‘IWIRC Women of the Year
in Restructuring (Asia) Award, 2021’. She has been the awardee of the ‘Asia One Women
Empowerment Principles Leadership Awards 2020-21’ and was felicitated at the 15th Edition of Asian
Business & Social Forum 2021, Awards & Business E-Summit, on 26th October 2021 at Emirates Ball
Room, Marriott Marquis Hotel, Dubai.
She is a regular acclaimed speaker at professional forums and shares her passion for writing through
leading journals, magazines and newspapers. She has represented the institute at various forums in
many countries in the matters of contemporary laws, governance and corporate social responsibility.
She also serves as an Independent Director on few of the prestigious Boards and has served as the
promoter director of the ICSI Insolvency Professionals Agency (now known as ICSI Institute of
Insolvency Professionals).

Ranjit Kumar Pachnanda

Independent Director

Shri Ranjit Kumar Pachnanda is an Independent Director of our Company. He holds a first class
Bachelor of Arts in Economics Honours from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and completed his LL.B. from
Punjab University, Chandigarh, where he received the Gold Medal for his academic performance.
He is a retired Indian Police Service officer who served in various positions in the Indian Police Force
over his career. Throughout his career, he held several high-ranking positions in the Indian Police,
Chairman of the Haryana Public Service Commission, Chairman Haryana Electricity Regulatory
Commission, Security Adviser to the Chief Minister of Assam, Director General of the Indo-Tibetan
Border Police, and Director General of the National Disaster Response Force. He also served as
Commissioner of Police in Kolkata and held senior positions in the Central Industrial Security Force,
Central Reserve Police Force and the Border Security Force.
He received several awards and commendations for his service, including the President’s Police Medal
for Distinguished Service, Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service, and commendations from the
Prime Minister of India, the Minister of State for Personnel & Pension, and others. He also represented
India at several international events, including the UN Chiefs of Police Summit and a seminar on suicide
terrorism in Tel Aviv.
In addition to his police work, he authored a book on terrorism and response to terrorist threats and
has written articles on the subject in the CBI Bulletin and NPA Magazine. He was awarded several
trophies during his career, including the IPS Association Sword of Honour, the Tonk Cup for Equitation,
and the XI regular (1958) IPS Batch Silver Jubiliee L.B. Sewa Memorial Trophy for the Best Probationer
in Co-curricular Activities.

Niraj Jalan

Independent Director

Shri Niraj Jalan, is an Independent Director of our Company and is a commerce graduate. He has a rich
and varied experience over 30 years in the industry across functions such as management, operations,
manufacturing, strategy sales & marketing, projects and commercial.
As the promoter of Jekay Group, he brings a wealth of expertise in the Manufacturing sector and
exports business.

P.S.Patwari

Non-executive Director

Shri Pitamber Sharan Patwari, Non-Executive Director of our Company is a Chartered Accountant by
profession having extensive experience of more than 43 years in the areas of Finance, Accounting,
Marketing, Corporate Planning, Business Development, Strategy formulation, and overall
management.
He joined the Company in the year 1984. He was elevated to the position of Executive Director on
1st December 1996 and played a lead role in the implementation of the Multi-Layer Coated Board
Project at Balasore in a record time.
He is associated with various federations and social organizations and was awarded the “CA Business
Achiever Award” in the SME category for excellent management for the year 2010 by The Institute of
Chartered Accountants of India

Sushil Kumar Khetan

Whole-time Director & CEO

A seasoned Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary and dynamic professional with over 37 years of rich experience spanning Paper Mill Operations, Paper & Paperboard Projects, Finance and Management Accounting. Nationally ranked – 13th position in the CA Final, he possesses wide exposure in the domains of Strategy, Business Development, Legal & Taxation, Commercial, Costing, Internal Control Procedures, Human Resource Management, Information Technology, Corporate Social Responsibility and allied functions with strong expertise in real-time business decision-making and identifying ROI drivers.

He has successfully led the operations of an integrated wood and agro-based paper mill, overseeing large-scale projects, Advanced Process Control (APC) initiatives, transformational programs in Paper Mill Operations that strengthened competitiveness, operational efficiency, driving profitability and growth. A proven strategic planner, he brings the ability to improve operations, accelerate business growth, and maximise profits through achievements in cost reduction, productivity enhancement, quality improvements and financial discipline. He is a keen analyst with exceptional relationship management and negotiation skills to align business goals with sustainable growth.

In his current role as Whole-time Director & CEO of Emami Paper Mills, Mr. Khetan is committed to steer the company towards sustained growth and transformation, while achieving the organisation’s mission and vision.
